Friday May 1st, 2026
12:30pm to ~4:50pm
Northwest Natura Land at Boulder Creek
Maple Falls, WA
Escape into the woods and reconnect with nature! In this unique workshop, you’ll learn the timeless skills of fire-making and bread-baking while enjoying crackling fires, good company, and a beautiful PNW mossy woodland next to the Nooksack River at Boulder Creek.
Here’s what you can expect from this class:
Spend the day outdoors learning fire-making techniques and the art of bread-baking in cast iron ovens.
Dietary restrictions: the standard bread recipe has gluten and dairy (dairy optional). If you are gluten free, you are welcome to bring your favorite GF flour and make your own loaf. There’s a slight trick to GF bread outdoors so send me an email nwnatura@gmail.com so we can make sure we have all the right ingredients to go with your flour of choice.
There are no facilities on site. Please use the restroom on your way out if needed and bring your own sanitation kit for going in the woods. The closest restroom is in Maple Falls ~2 miles from Boulder Creek.
What to Bring:
Dress for the weather
Wear sturdy, water-resistant footwear
Personal items you’d like for comfort such as:
Snacks and water
Spreads for the bread (optional)
E.g., jellies, jams, butters, honey, sauces, cheeses, etc..
NWN is providing oat milk butter (it’s so good), jam, and raw honey.

This class is designed for adults (16+) who are interested in learning new skills and practicing self-reliance outdoors while having fun!
Space is limited.
After signing up:
You will receive a receipt of payment. Registered individuals will receive location details, driving directions, weather forecast details and other info in an event-reminder email 3-4 days prior to the event. Please check your spam folder if you do not receive this email. Reach out if you do not find an email.
