Saturday July 4th, 2026
1pm to 5:00pm
Whatcom County - Trail TBA
Join Salish Sea Naturalist, Jazmen Yoder this 4th of July to escape the crowds, slow down and be awestruck by the self-repeating patterns of nature that originally inspired firework technicians to make their spectacular explosions. Bring your camera, a notebook and pen, and celebrate Independence Day in a unique way this summer.
Along the way you will learn names of plants, their uses, and some (very) basic skills for photographing bloom textures and working with dynamic light using a phone camera (optional).
This walk is focused on firework-like patterns, talking about fractals, talking about stewardship, learning uses of plants, and gaining a better appreciation for the land we call home.
This is a naturalist “hike” but it’s more like a wander - expect to focus on flowering plants, but also learn about wildlife including track & sign, native plants, and natural history of the PNW.
Sorry, no pets!
