Naturalist Hike - Trees, Mushrooms, Ferns, & Lichen

from $35.00

A Field Trip for Nature Lovers and Foragers

Saturday November 1st, 2025

1:00pm to ~4:30pm

Stimpson Family Nature Preserve

Join me in the woods in one of Whatcom County’s nature preserves near Lake Whatcom to learn about and appreciate beautiful organisms we find along the trail.

This will be a slow “hike” with minimal elevation gain. Come out to “get your steps in” while learning about fungi, flora, and fauna from local botanist and naturalist, Jazmen Yoder.

Each plant, mushroom, lichen, or fern we ID will include interesting information beyond how to identify them, but also their historical significance, medicinal uses, and ecological significance.

Sorry, no dogs allowed at Stimpson.

What to Bring:

  • Dress for the weather

  • Snacks and water

  • Notepad and pen (optional)

  • Binoculars (optional)

After signing up:

You will receive a receipt of payment. Registered individuals will receive location details, driving directions, weather forecast details and other info in an event-reminder email 3-4 days prior to the event. Please check your spam folder if you do not receive this email. Reach out if you do not find an email. There have been frequent issues with Gmail not delivering to Hotmail, Live, and MSN email addresses. Email Jazmen with concerns or to get on a waitlist: nwnatura@gmail.com
