Naturalist Hike - Trees, Shrubs, & Wildlife
A Field Trip for Nature Lovers
Friday January 16th, 2026
12:00pm to ~4:00pm
Ferndale, WA
(precise location disclosed to registered participants 3-4 days prior to event)
Join me next to the Nooksack river on one of Whatcom County’s best flat trails to learn about and appreciate beautiful organisms we find on our walk.
This course is loosely focused on “trees, shrubs, and wildlife” but we’ll talk about whatever we find, including mushrooms!
This will be a slow “hike” with minimal elevation gain. Come out to “get your steps in” while learning about fungi, flora, and fauna from local botanist and naturalist, Jazmen Yoder.
Each plant, mushroom, lichen, or wildlife track/sign we ID will include interesting information beyond how to identify them, but also their historical significance, medicinal uses, and ecological significance.
What to Bring:
Dress for the weather
Snacks and water
Notepad and pen (optional)
Binoculars (optional)
After signing up:
You will receive a receipt of payment. Registered individuals will receive location details, driving directions, weather forecast details and other info in an event-reminder email 3-4 days prior to the event. Please check your spam folder if you do not receive this email. Reach out if you do not find an email. There have been frequent issues with Gmail not delivering to Hotmail, Live, and MSN email addresses. Email Jazmen with concerns or to get on a waitlist: nwnatura@gmail.com
Have a look at my Refund Policies before you order.
