Pacific Northwest Forest - Nature Walk

Spend a couple hours in nature on Sunday after the wedding to appreciate and learn about all the beautiful plants, mushrooms, and wildlife you find along the trail with local naturalist and botanist, Jazmen Yoder of Northwest Natura.

Each plant, mushroom, and lichen we ID together will give you an opportunity to learn something interesting beyond how to identify them, such as historical significance, medicinal uses, and ecological roles.

  • Learn the names of flora, fungi, and fauna we find in the forest at Camp Saturna

    • Ethnobotanical and ethnomycological uses of plants and mushrooms including edibility and medicinal qualities.

    • Track & Sign discourse as we find signs of mammals, birds, or amphibians.

  • Enjoy a fun nature-based scavenger hunt

    • Team up or go solo! Find specific plants, mushroom types, wildlife sign, and other surprises.

    • Learn to estimate the age of large trees growing in the forest.
