Wildcrafted Feather, Bone & Antler Jewelry

WHAT TO EXPECT
This class is perfect for beginners and experienced crafters looking to deepen their connection with nature through art. Join NW Natura on Valentine’s Day weekend creating jewelry that encapsulate your love for the natural world.
Learn about sustainable practices of harvesting materials from nature with an emphasis on respect and reverence for wild beings and the environment.
Repurpose, explore, and imagine the stories of the natural materials you use.
Learn the basics of jewelry-making and gain a new appreciation for detail and the art of the craft.
Use tools to modify bone and antler into pieces for earrings, necklaces, or bracelets.
Get in a creative zone: make multiple pieces to take home with you.
Option to make a faux leather pouch for storing a piece you crafted
Students are welcome to bring their own materials and use the abundance of materials provided (details below).
WHAT TO BRING:
Your own pliers set. You will need at least these three pliers:
Round nose pliers
Flat nose or chain nose pliers
Cutters
Dress comfortably (indoor workshop)
Snacks/lunch and water
Your own materials (beads, small bones, feathers, cordage, etc.; optional)
Any additional personal tools you prefer for leathercraft or jewelry-making (optional)
Notepad and pen (optional)
Materials Provided
Small bones, feathers, antler pieces, small wood, shells, and other natural items. Some processed into beads by co-instructors, others left untouched (array).
Gold and silver ear wire pieces, jump rings (multiple sizes), clasps, and so on...
Gold (2 tones) and silver necklace chain
A large collection of glass, metal, stone, and plastic beads
An assortment of whimsical dangles
Cordage and leather strips
Multiple colors and gauges of wire
Wood-burning kit for adding details to bones, antlers, or wood
Faux leather and sewing items for pouch-making
Dremel tools (3)
Scissors
Awls
