Learn about Lichen
A three-part series teaching you about lichen biology including how they probably evolved and what their role is in the environment. We’ll learn identification technieus, how to categorize unique forms, and view microscopic structures to better understand the symbiotic relationship of algae, fungi, yeast, and bacteria that live as one to make a lichen.
This course is taught by naturalist and outdoor educator, Jazmen Yoder who has taken her bachelors in evolution, ecology, and organismal biology and condensed it as public education. Her love for plants, mushrooms, ethnobotany, lichen, algae, and natural history make her courses highly engaging, fun, and incredibly informative. Very few lichen courses are offered, so take your chance and sign up for this unique series with Bellingham’s local naturalist!
