Natural Dyes & Herbal Sachet Wildcrafting Workshop

from $75.00

Please join naturalist and botanist, Jazmen Yoder for a day of foraging and wildcrafting in this indoor/outdoor workshop.

This course will focus on teaching you how to dye wool with nature’s offerings. Pre-treated wool sheets* will be provided to all participants to use in the dyeing portion of this workshop.

*Pre-treatment steps will be discussed at length during our lesson so that everyone knows exactly how to treat fabric before using natural dye in the future.

Class size is limited to 8 people as this is a trial course.

WHEN

Sunday December 14th, 2025

1:00pm to ~6:00pm

WHERE

This workshop will be held at the Chuckanut Center. If the weather isn’t too bad, we’ll start the workshop with a woods walk at Fairhaven Park.

Meet at the Chuckanut Center at 1pm.

Registered participants will receive an email 2-4 days prior to the event with details on meeting location, weather, and other pertinent details.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Meet at the Chuckanut Center at 1pm for an introduction to the course and precap of the day.

We’ll spend some time outside during the first portion of this course looking for plants, mushrooms, and lichen that can be used to make natural dyes. We will forage one or two species while we’re out and take the materials back to the venue to process and begin the second portion of the workshop.

Back at the Chuckanut Center around 3:30pm, we’ll use the kitchen to craft several natural dyes together. Each person will be provided with two sheets of white, pretreated wool fabric.

Each participant has the opportunity to experiment however they want with the various dye pots we craft. In previous classes, students walked away with 6-8 dyed cuts ranging in color (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, and brown were attained).

In the final portion of this class, you will make a sachet of aromatic herbs using pieces of your dyed fabric.

Herbs will be provided and you are welcome to bring your own.
