Wild Mushroom Forays - Late Fall 2026
Unique and informative wild mushroom forays offered by Northwest Natura bring you to beautiful wild places bursting with fungi diversity.
Join one or multiple outings to get the most out of the season.
WHEN
There are several dates to choose from. Each course is from 1:00 to ~4:30pm and take place in different locations up to an hour outside of Bellingham, WA.
Saturday November 7th

Sunday November 22nd
To sign up for multiple dates you will need to purchase them individually in separate transactions.

Wild Mushroom Forays - Late Fall 2026
WHERE
Locations will be in public and/or private forested areas around Whatcom County. Precise details remain TBA as they are contingent on the fungi, but these trips will be no more than 1 hour outside of Bellingham. You will receive an email with location information 2-4 days before your event(s).
WHAT TO EXPECT
Introductory lesson on mushroom ecology, foraging, and identification
Learn how to find your own “secret spot” using ecological cues, digital maps and other tried-and-true scouting techniques.
Learn about land use laws, foraging permits, safety, and nature awareness.
Learn ecology of fungi, vocabulary, and important features for identification
Boost your confidence outdoors and in mushroom ID.
Enjoy a fun and relaxing day in the woods with a fun group finding an array of colorful mushrooms; learn to ID edible AND toxic fungi on this unique outing in the forest
What to bring:
Dress for the weather
Wear water resistant, ankle-supportive footwear
Hiking poles if you normally use them
Snacks and water
Notepad and pen (optional)
Foraging basket (optional)
Hand lens (optional; purchase one from Northwest Natura for $5/ea)
After signing up:
You will receive an automated confirmation of payment. Registered individuals will receive location details, driving directions, weather forecast details and other info in an event-reminder email 3-4 days prior to the event. Please use an active email address to sign up. All communications from NW Natura to you re: this workshop will be sent to the email address on file from your purchase.
